SIX homes in Sydney's west were hit by bullets just 12 hours before a 29-year-old bikie was bludgeoned to death at Sydney Airport's domestic terminal.

In a dramatic escalation of a turf war between rival bikie gangs, one man was shot, another bashed, and another murdered in the airport attack.

The drive-by shootings at Auburn on Saturday night, which involved six houses in three streets, are believed to be related to Bandidos discovering that two of the club's Blacktown chapter "associates" were passing information to the rival club, Notorious.

"There are probably people now thinking I'm partisan for saying the science is in on climate change," said Chubb.

"...90 per cent of experts in climate science are all of one view. And that is that the planet is warming and humans have intervened to accelerate that process

"So somebody who comes along and says it's not true doesn't deserve equal weight. They deserve to have their views considered if they've gone through the proper and scientific process and it's ended up in the peer review literature."

So Blair cuts to the heart of the principles of planetary climate to refute the Chief Scientist;

Bully for you, chief scientific person! 

Maybe ... you can explain to the rest of us what Julia Gillard really meant when she said there would be no carbon tax under a government she led.

“Greedy” Gina digs her critics another mine of handouts

Rinehart, who is the woman who bought my opinions for Channel 10, has actually earned my particular applause time and time again, over and over, and now this beautiful woman is rightly indignant:

Now left wing media doesn’t like me directing attention to the MRRT and Carbon Tax...why should I dare to “greedily” advocate no MRRT and no Carbon Tax for my “own self benefit” when I have made less than 8 billion dollars out of this mining boom? 

I have received not 1 cent for employing people over years to enable our company to explore, study and put in the building blocks for this Queensland project to enable it to progress towards development and make me billions and billions of dollars profit. Not 1 cent.

Surrendering the moral high ground

Lord Monckton has embarrassed himself and damaged his cause by this offensive attack:

Sense a pattern here? A historical analogy?

and,

Notice how Maoist Arabia’s language is? Demonise doubters. Valorise the collective. Demand individual judgement be subservient to some “national” ideology.

in Monckton's case I want to be outraged. He should just talk about science.



UPDATE

MALCOLM TURNBULL: Monckton is a vaudeville artist. He has no credibility, politically or scientifically, particularly in The United Kingdom and he is a professional sensationalist. So he says these outrageous things in order to get into the press.

Turnbull misrepresents Monckton. I can find only one reference to an actual vaudeville performance from Monckton - at the Temple Theatre, Detroit, December 1, 1902:

Monologist and vocalist. He goes like a cyclone. It is a case of continuous laughter from his entrance to his exit.

A letter to the Chief Scientist on how science works

Liberal MP Dennis Jensen responds to Chief Scientist Ian Chubb:

Dear Ian

You have expressed your dissatisfaction with the quality of public debate on climate change, saying it "borders on appalling" and the level of scientific literacy among politicians is "not high".

To this point we both agree 100%. I have no idea what I'm talking about on matters climate.

But every interview, doorstop, press release, opinion piece and discussion I have with constituent and political colleagues I express a desire for a climate debate based solely on rhetoric and consensus politics.

I found your criticism of “climate deniers” as extremely unhelpful generally, and found it interesting that if you know nothing about climate change, apparently, you are not allowed to criticize the science.

You have also stated “They deserve to have their views considered if they’ve gone through the proper and scientific process and it’s ended up in the peer review literature.”

You cannot state that only people who can be countenanced criticising climate change and its debate are those contributing peer reviewed papers - what about bloggers and talk back hosts and other people who aren't scientists? Are they not allowed to make up their own science?

Why didn’t the CSIRO add the temperature data?

The CSIRO invites the public to a new web site

But Professor Sinclair Davidson notes a strange absence from their graphic - the temperature data.

So Davidson adds the Australian temperature data himself and by squashing the left hand axis enough you can't see any relationship between temperature and CO2.  So that's it, there is no relationship between CO2 and temperature - science settled

You can see why the CSIRO would rather not show this graph!

 

Just the kind of protest to confim the fears

Worried about Islam in Australia? The burka? The 1.5% of our population that are Muslim? Well let me stir up those concerns.

Here is a picture of a Muslim man and 10 others outside a court - Is this really the sort of behaviour we should accept?

Where is the warming?

Am I missing something? Where is the warming over the last 150 years?

A stain on all scientists

Australia's scientific community will launch a campaign tonight aimed at redressing what it says is the damage to science which is being caused by climate change denial:

At its annual gathering in Canberra today, the Federation of Australian Science and Technological Societies, which represent the interests of some 68,000 Australian scientists and technologists, will tell politicians that the campaign being run against scientific evidence of man-made climate change "is undermining the national building work of all scientists"…

"The valuable and credible work of all scientists is under attack as a result of a noisy misinformation campaign by climate denialists...." the federation’s chief executive officer, Anna-Maria Arabia, said.

Oh really?

Lets just ignore the 68,000 scientists and technologists for the moment and ask: who has the most qualifications? The administrative head of this organisation, Anna-Maria Arabia or Professor Richard Lindzen?

Gotcha.

Arabia should pull her head in - and the other 68,000 heads - and apologise.

Rumours, rumours:

Later yesterday, there were rumours of at least two screaming matches between the pair in the past 24 hours.

In one case, a rumour ran, the pair clashed late yesterday over who made up the spin 'carbon dioxide tax' , when in fact their discussion was understood to have concerned whether Julia's tax will give you herpes.

Column - Global warming saves lives, so why don’t they say so?

Again I must ask: if global warming is so clear a theat, why all these deceits?

Take Climate Commissioner Tim Flannery: this week he was at it again, insisting global warming was already drowning some of our islands.

Oh, really, Tim? Which ones? When?

In fact, (ignoring the trend over the last century) sea levels have dropped over the past few weeks.

And over the past decade the world - surprise! - hasn’t warmed at all

And what about the claim that "less snow and a shorter snow season appear likely" and the CSIRO 2003 study which warned that ski resorts could face a shorter season over the coming 100 years?

Well this year’s snow seasons has opened early ! So much for that study.

You are being deceived yet again.

The Daily Flannery

Tim Flannery claims:

There are islands in the Torres Strait that are already being evacuated and are feeling the impacts (of global warming).

I challenge:

Oh, really, Tim? Which ones? When?

Flannery clarifies:

During a visit to the TSI recently (May 2011) I was told by community leaders on Dauan Island that plans are being made to evacuate the people of Saibai Island to Dauan.

Ah, ha ... so he only mentions one island, yet his first statement clearly had an 's' on the end of island. And what about "feeling the impacts" of global warming, Tim? Where's that evidence?

Gotcha again.

 

Middle class Australian Buddhists aren’t sceptics

After arriving in Australia yesterday, the Dalai Lama called,

 for countries to cut greenhouse gases urgently, without waiting for other nations to act first.

If you were an Australian of a sceptical disposition, would you really be a Buddhist?

Catholicism, one the other hand, is different. Cardinal George Pell understands that the physics and chemistry of planetary climate are a threat to reason and lays out some unique analysis:

The carbon dioxide in the atmosphere continues to rise, but the world's temperature has not risen since 1998 [...] Evidence shows the wheels are falling from the climate catastrophe bandwagon.

And we peek again into the diary of Cardinal Pell:

It is here that I learn that the Sun isn't composed of 98 per cent hydrogen and helium, (contrary to a century of observation and theory by heretical astronomers) but is instead similar in composition to a meteorite ... God enlightens men's eyes, sets things before them in a true light

Why haven't we heard the IPCC or Buddhists acknowledge that the sun is actually a meteorite?

Teach science instead: ban warming in the classroom

Fewer fads and more science, please:

Physics and chemistry could be axed from (England’s) national curriculum in a move to strip science back to being completely basic. 

Climate change should be cut in order to ‘remove science from the science’, according to the Government adviser overseeing a major overhaul of teaching in England and Wales

But in a foolish land where the Education Minister is a former Australian Conservation Foundation president...:

SCHOOL Education Minister Peter Garrett has confirmed the Gillard government will not stop the teaching of physics and chemistry in the classroom following a move in Britain for the subject to be withdrawn from the national curriculum. 

Mr Garrett clarified last night that climate change was not taught as a curriculum subject in its own right in Australian schools, but could be adequately dealt with by fundamental physics and chemistry classes. 

Meanwhile, Liberal senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells said she hoped the curriculum would reflect right wing opinion and not just science if there were a divergence of views on the subject of climate science. "If there are different opinions, then it's important in our schools that those opinions are taught," she said.

Labor says meowing or barking or whistling at a woman Senator is "schoolyard politics":

Tasmanian Liberal David Bushby made a loud “meow” noise to Senator Wong, who then accused him of sexism and “schoolyard politics”. 

“Oh yes, why don’t you meow when a woman does that? That’s a good idea,” Ms Wong said during the fiery exchange… 

Human Services Minister Tanya Plibersek labelled the Opposition Leader and his frontbench as sexist. 

“I think everyone in this house agrees there is room for humour, but what I am tired of and what so many women are tired of, is that whenever there is conflict, we have the Leader of the Opposition and his senior ministers reverting to this sort of sexist language,” she told Parliament.

But I'll rush to defend the Coalition with this example:

Bob Hawke today said, "Now I don’t mind Tony [Abbott], he’s not a bad bloke, but as I said during the [election] campaign he’s as mad as a cut snake…"

 Gotcha. Right back at ya, Labor Party.

A report of false scares

Bob Carter, David Evans, Stewart Franks and William Kininmonth peer-review amongst themselves the report on global warming that the Climate Commission last week gave the Gillard Government.

Their conclusion:

Notwithstanding the misassertions of the Climate Commissioners, independent scientists (by that we mean us four) are confident overall that there is no evidence of global warming (well apart from the upper atmosphere cooling, the tropopause height rising, nights warming more than days, sea level pressure rising, precipitation changing as expected from anthropogenic forcing, ocean heat content changing as expected from anthropogenic forcing, downward longwave radiation increasing, upward longwave radiation is decreasing)... 

...no evidence of sea level rise at a rate greater than the 20th century natural rise of ~1.7 mm/yr; no evidence of acceleration in sea-level change in either the tide gauge or satellite records; and nothing unusual about the behaviour of mountain glaciers, Arctic sea ice or the Greenland or West Antarctic ice sheets.
