Where is the sea level rise?
Many readers have sent me this graph from Nils-Axel Mörner completely debunking the warmist meme that sea levels are rising;

If this is warming, the crops are loving it
The warmists cry starvation in 2008:
But so far, so great, as my local Woolworths noted:
Impoverished farmers in South Asia and southern Africa could face growing food shortages due to climate change within just 20 years, a new study says...
“The majority of the world’s one billion poor depend on agriculture for their livelihoods,” said the lead author of the new study, David Lobell of Stanford University.
“Unfortunately, agriculture is also the human enterprise most vulnerable to changes in climate.”

Temperature update
Although I noticed it had been chilly a few months ago it now seems like its warmer than most of the decade.
And although the decade looks the hottest, I'm sure its just naturally hot or something - and as we skeptics still like to say, "There has been no Global warming this decade"
Roy Spencer updates his temperature record:

So much for Weather Underground
I analyse the science and put Weather Underground founder Jeff Masters's list to the sword:
ok, enough with the "worst in history"
So there you have it: I do the science while Masters beats a drum.
Earth’s hottest year on record
gotcha - equal hottest with 2005
Most extreme winter Arctic atmospheric circulation on record
um, the atmosphere always circulates
Arctic sea ice: lowest volume on record, 3rd lowest extentah huh , third lowest is not the lowest.
Record melting in Greenland, and a massive calving eventcalving? there are no cows in Greenland
Second most extreme shift from El Niño to La Niñasecond is for losers.
Second worst coral bleaching yeardittto
Wettest year over landbut what about over water?
Amazon rainforest experiences its 2nd 100-year drought in 5 yearsso the other 98 years were not in drought, yes?
Global tropical cyclone activity lowest on recordthat's good
A hyperactive Atlantic hurricane season: 3rd busiest on recordbetter to be busy than idle
A rare tropical storm in the South Atlanticif it's rare, then we're lucky to have seen it - bit like Halley's comet
Strongest storm in Southwestern U.S. historyfinally number 1
Strongest non-coastal storm in U.S. historyok so number 1 again...
Weakest and latest-ending East Asian monsoon on recordwell that's not number 1
No monsoon depressions in India’s Southwest Monsoon for 2nd time in 134 yearswho wants monsoon depressions anyway - no point getting upset about it.
The Pakistani flood: most expensive natural disaster in Pakistan’s historyblah
The Russian heat wave and drought: deadliest heat wave in human historyblah
Record rains trigger Australia’s most expensive natural disaster in historyblah blah
Heaviest rains on record trigger Colombia’s worst flooding disaster in history
ok, enough with the "worst in history"
So there you have it: I do the science while Masters beats a drum.

A letter to the Chief Scientist on how science works
Liberal MP Dennis Jensen responds to Chief Scientist Ian Chubb:
Dear Ian
You have expressed your dissatisfaction with the quality of public debate on climate change, saying it "borders on appalling" and the level of scientific literacy among politicians is "not high".
To this point we both agree 100%. I have no idea what I'm talking about on matters climate.
But every interview, doorstop, press release, opinion piece and discussion I have with constituent and political colleagues I express a desire for a climate debate based solely on rhetoric and consensus politics.
I found your criticism of “climate deniers” as extremely unhelpful generally, and found it interesting that if you know nothing about climate change, apparently, you are not allowed to criticize the science.
You have also stated “They deserve to have their views considered if they’ve gone through the proper and scientific process and it’s ended up in the peer review literature.”
You cannot state that only people who can be countenanced criticising climate change and its debate are those contributing peer reviewed papers - what about bloggers and talk back hosts and other people who aren't scientists? Are they not allowed to make up their own science?
Kind regards
Dennis

Why didn’t the CSIRO add the temperature data?
The CSIRO invites the public to a new web site
But Professor Sinclair Davidson notes a strange absence from their graphic - the temperature data.
So Davidson adds the Australian temperature data himself and by squashing the left hand axis enough you can't see any relationship between temperature and CO2. So that's it, there is no relationship between CO2 and temperature - science settled

You can see why the CSIRO would rather not show this graph!

Where is the warming?
Am I missing something? Where is the warming over the last 150 years?
And clearly, if we look at this weeks climate in Melbourne, there is a cooling trend:
| Min | Max | Rain to 9am | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 16/05 | 7.0°C | 18.0°C | 0.0mm |
| Sun 15/05 | 7.0°C | 17.0°C | 0.0mm |
| Sat 14/05 | 6.0°C | 16.0°C | 0.0mm |
| Fri 13/05 | 6.0°C | 16.0°C | 0.0mm |
| Thu 12/05 | 6.0°C | 15.0°C | 0.0mm |
Why aren't climate scientists talking about this trend? And why won't climate commissioner Tim Flannery address this issue with me on my TV show?
If global warming is real, why is it cooling this week in Melbourne?

Column - Global warming saves lives, so why don’t they say so?
Again I must ask: if global warming is so clear a theat, why all these deceits?
Take Climate Commissioner Tim Flannery: this week he was at it again, insisting global warming was already drowning some of our islands.
Oh, really, Tim? Which ones? When?
In fact, (ignoring the trend over the last century) sea levels have dropped over the past few weeks.
And over the past decade the world - surprise! - hasn’t warmed at all
And what about the claim that "less snow and a shorter snow season appear likely" and the CSIRO 2003 study which warned that ski resorts could face a shorter season over the coming 100 years?
Well this year’s snow seasons has opened early ! So much for that study.

Teach science instead: ban warming in the classroom
Fewer fads and more science, please:
But in a foolish land where the Education Minister is a former Australian Conservation Foundation president...:
Meanwhile, Liberal senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells said she hoped the curriculum would reflect right wing opinion and not just science if there were a divergence of views on the subject of climate science. "If there are different opinions, then it's important in our schools that those opinions are taught," she said.
Physics and chemistry could be axed from (England’s) national curriculum in a move to strip science back to being completely basic.
Climate change should be cut in order to ‘remove science from the science’, according to the Government adviser overseeing a major overhaul of teaching in England and Wales
But in a foolish land where the Education Minister is a former Australian Conservation Foundation president...:
SCHOOL Education Minister Peter Garrett has confirmed the Gillard government will not stop the teaching of physics and chemistry in the classroom following a move in Britain for the subject to be withdrawn from the national curriculum.
Mr Garrett clarified last night that climate change was not taught as a curriculum subject in its own right in Australian schools, but could be adequately dealt with by fundamental physics and chemistry classes.
Meanwhile, Liberal senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells said she hoped the curriculum would reflect right wing opinion and not just science if there were a divergence of views on the subject of climate science. "If there are different opinions, then it's important in our schools that those opinions are taught," she said.

If the rest of the world is cutting, why are emissions rising?
Finally cause for celebration, the Guardian reports:
Greenhouse gas emissions increased by a record amount last year, to the highest carbon output in history, putting hopes of holding global warming to safe levels all but out of reach, according to unpublished estimates from the International Energy Agency…
Last year, a record 30.6 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide poured into the atmosphere, mainly from burning fossil fuel – a rise of 1.6Gt on 2009....

How dare this ad tell such lies?

- No, the sun doesn't look like that big cutout thing.
- No, solar panels aren't normally on grass hills
- No, I can't see any global warming.
- No, there's not normally a roped pulley system hanging from the sky.
How can such a lying ad show by people demanding we “respect the science”?
How can such a lying ad show by people demanding we “respect the science”?
Climate change is real, but Gillard’s claims are disgracefully false
Let’s fact-check the Prime Minister’s deceitful article in the Herald Sun today:
Who disputes that climate change is real?
LAST Monday, I received a report from the Climate Commission confirming again that climate change is real.
Who disputes that climate change is real?
Most significantly, the report says the greatest contributor to recent climate change is carbon pollution caused by humans.
It does say that, but ignores the many bloggers and citizen scientists questioning that theory.
With the science so clear we shouldn’t waste time on shock jocks or politicians who rely on false claims to run their scare campaigns. They quote one crank or another in the same way people have argued the world is flat.
Mere abuse. If what I’ve said above is wrong, Gillard need only provide the contrary information - I mean apart from a report on the science from the Climate Commission. Some other contrary evidence.

Pick the newspaper for the devoted alarmist
The Australian:
The Age:
The report says the Victorian Black Saturday bushfires and the 2003 Canberra fires could possibly be linked to climate change and it suggests climate change could be linked with lower rainfall, higher temperatures and elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide affecting the composition of vegetation and the fuel load for fires.Drier conditions tended to make the fuel load more susceptible to burning and climate change increased the probability of extreme weather days, with extreme temperature, low humidity and high winds.

Blame Hiddink, not the emissions
Maybe we’re looking in the wrong place to explain some of the changes in the climate, admits one of Europe’s top soccer coaches:
Guus Hiddink has revealed a change in the climate at Chelsea since his spell as caretaker-manager two years ago.
He wrote in his column in De Telegraaf: "It works well with Chelsea. Since I left two years ago I've been advising the club on things concerning the squad and I've noticed the attitude is much better. There has definitely been a change in climate at the club."
The Dutchman took over as caretaker-boss in February 2009 following the sacking of Luiz Felipe Scolari and guided the Blues to the FA Cup, combining his role in west London with his duties as Russia manager.

CSIRO’s warming stops
CSIRO in 2010:
Yet for the past five days the temperature has been exactly the same:
The State of the Climate snapshot, drawn together by CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology ... shows that Australia’s mean temperature has increased 0.7 degrees since 1960....
The report states that temperature observations, among others indicators, "clearly demonstrate climate change is real"...
Yet for the past five days the temperature has been exactly the same:
| Min | Max | Rain to 9am | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 16/05 | 9.0°C | 20.0°C | 0.0mm |

Fossil fuels?
The goal posts shift again. The Academy of Science states,
That's a new one: now it's fossil fuels. One minute humans are causing climate change the next it's fossil fuels.
The story changes every day.
Climate change is not contingent on successful lobbying but is a consequence of burning fossil fuels.
That's a new one: now it's fossil fuels. One minute humans are causing climate change the next it's fossil fuels.
The story changes every day.
